Last week, 31 Year 5 pupils, accompanied by Mrs Bailey, Mr F Roberts, Mrs Johnson and Miss Ford, travelled to the Isle of Wight for their four day residential trip.
The weather was glorious, and the ferry ride made for a most exciting start to the holiday for everyone. Our home was the Sands Hotel, right on the seafront on a stunning beach, the perfect base for exploring. Hearty breakfasts, a daily picnic and 3 course evening dinners filled hungry pupils. The week was filled with a busy itinerary.
Following our arrival we made a very important stop for some ice cream, a dip in the sea and ended with an evening of bowling and mini-golf on the pier.
On the second day, we visited Robin Hill Country park. Some serious steps were walked and we were exhilarated by the 4D Cinema and a toboggan ride. There was lots of shade and adventure climbing. The falconry display was outstanding and the children will all recount the moment that Ollie the Peregrine Falcon, took off and performed a stoop to warn off a wild Buzzard.
Day three, meant a boat trip around the famous Alum Bay, to see the striking rock formations and famous ‘Needles’ landmarks. Then the children made coloured sand filled bottles and did some gift shopping, before returning for a full afternoon on the beach.’ On the last morning Year 5 went on a fossil hunt walk and a visited a dinosaur museum.
All the pupils learned a lot, laughed a lot and made special memories that will last a lifetime. The teachers were so proud to have been able to share their experiences too!
