Pupils in Year 5 have embarked on an eleven-week programme designed to help them uncover their innate resilience and improve their mental well-being.

Delivered by Mrs Dewey, the preventative mental health education course aims to aid the development of psychologically healthy and resilient young people.

The realisation that all of the qualities that they need to succeed are already within, helps children to relax and realise that they are not lacking, but fully equipped to achieve. Students that have participated in the iHeart programme report that they feel lighter, hopeful and more naturally motivated.

The course covers:

  • What is innate/built-into our psychological system?
  • Why we think, feel and behave the way we do.
  • Why and how our well-being gets covered up and uncovered again.
  • How our built-in compass helps us return to our well-being.
  • What drives us?

Year 5 are five weeks into their course and have already commented on their improved confidence and self-belief.

Our Teaching Staff, have also completed a highly successful and extremely interesting session on the principles behind the iHeart programme and are finding the roll-out of the programme within school extremely valuable.
